Honduras, here I come.

"Welcome to the Green Team." I'm not gonna lie, up to this point this all seemed like some kind of existential idea that wasn't actually going to happen. But when you get a one inch thick packet from our national capital, you know it's do or die (aka find a real job) time. Today I formally accepted my invitation to spend the next 27 months of my life in beautiful Honduras. You'll be able to find me in the capital, Tegucigalpa, for the first three then some remote location for the remaining 24. You have no idea how Hondurian I'm going to look when I get back. Yes, this is a Spanish speaking placement (¡Que Bueno!) plus you all know I am only doing this so I can hopefully become so tan I look Mexican for the rest of my life. Ah, the American dream.

As a PAM volunteer, or Protected Areas Management Volunteer, my main job is to "collaborate with community partners to increase the inhabitants' knowledge of ways to maintain and enhance the management of biodiversity and ecosystems in prioritized protected areas." Specifically, I'll be working in Buffer Zones which are ecologically most in danger. I will also be promoting sustainable use of natural resources through environmental education to all ages of the community, plus more project than I can imagine. I hope to form my own Captain Planet team down there. You can now call me Ma-Ti, again because I want to be the tan Planeteer.

Expect more updates as I get my specific location. As soon as I know, feel free to google map me there. I will make sure I am always waving.
